The big game of the weekend was between Chelsea and Man
City. Humorously dubbed ‘El Cashico’ because of
the vast amount of cash at the disposal of both clubs. Both clubs
offered little on the pitch with the most clear cut chance falling to Aguero in
the first half but his header was tame and straight at Cech. The high point of
the game was the home fans booing new interim manager Rafa Benitez. Chants of
“f*** off you are not welcome here” rang out from the Matthew Harding Stand.
On the 16th minute there was applause
from the fans in honour of sacked manager Di Matteo who wore the number 16
jersey when he played for the club. Meanwhile club owner Roman Abramovich sat
looking unfazed by the chants. The game end goalless no more than both sides
deserved.
The comeback kings of England Man United came from a goal
behind to cruise to a 3-1 win over QPR.
Jamie Mackie put QPR ahead on 52minutes then United responded with
3goals in 8minutes to put the game beyond the visitors. Harry Redknapp watched
from the stands and has his work cut out to rescue QPR from relegation.
Arsenal played out a goalless draw with Aston Villa.
Southampton has gone from winless to winning 2games in a row as they defeated
Newcastle 2-0. A last minute Sebstian Bassong header denied Everton all 3points
against Norwich. West Brom is up to 3rd on table after their 4-2 win
over Sunderland.
